Enid Liy is named after my Afro Cuban immigrant grandmother who created her own sense of flair from a less than average income. Enid Liy was a seamstress in Cuba. She made clothes for her community. It was a form of self-expression. She embraced her sense of style from her mother who learned from her mother. For many generations, the art of beautification became a skill for my family’s survival. As a small girl, I stared at my grandmother’s accessories and wondered how the jewels would accentuate the person that I am. Her collection ranged from high fashion to modern classic chic for a modest budget.
